Day 243 - Tuesday, August 31, 2010

Day 243 - Tuesday, August 31, 2010 – We gave dad a crossword puzzle to pass the time while waiting for his shunt surgery (to drain the fluid on his brain). After 15 minutes or so, I noticed he hadn't filled in any of the words, so I offered to read it to him and fill it in. One of the clues was "Mr. Fix It". Wouldn't you know it, there were just enough boxes for me to fill it in with "Bennie R. Shellnut". I don't care what the answer key says, I wrote in the correct response.

Day 242 - Monday, August 30, 2010

Day 242 - Monday, August 30, 2010 – Um, yeah, I have a high schooler. High school registration and picture day today. And she's still sweet enough to let dad take a picture. Love this girl.

Day 241 - Sunday, August 29, 2010

Day 241 - Sunday, August 29, 2010 – Ashton found his toes today.

Day 240 - Saturday, August 28, 2010

Day 240 - Saturday, August 28, 2010 – What a difference a day makes. Late last night, my mom brought my dad into Royal Oak Beaumont Hospital. For the last couple of weeks, his physical and cognitive abilities were declining. I guessed that maybe he had suffered a minor stroke, and my mom had planned to take him to a neurologist in a couple of days. But, last night, he fell, and then he couldn't add. Turns out he has hydrocephalus, or water on the brain, due to a suspicious mass blocking the draining of the cerebral spinal fluid from his ventricles. My mom keeps him company by playing cards and showering him with kisses.

Day 239 - Friday, August 27, 2010

Day 239 - Friday, August 27, 2010 – Jordyn had her first golf match today at Boulder Pointe against Lake Orion. The coaches joked that Jordyn had a little "gallery" following her around. Kevin, the boys, my parents and I all went to watch her play. It was a glorious morning. And, to top it all off, Jordyn had the lowest score out of all the golfers! But, since it's match play, what mattered was that her team had a combined lower score than Lake Orion's team. YAY for the first W of the season.

Day 238 - Thursday, August 26, 2010

Day 238 - Thursday, August 26, 2010 – Evidence of a 6 year old living in the house. Magnetic spider man from the McDonald's Happy Meal found attached in unexpected locations. Oh, Owen.

Day 237 - Wednesday, August 25, 2010

Day 237 - Wednesday, August 25, 2010 – Liam's Picture Day for OJW. What a handsome little football player. And so sweet. Er, I mean, so tough.

Day 236 - Tuesday, August 24, 2010

Day 236 - Tuesday, August 24, 2010 – I like working from home better than going into the office, but at least I have cute shoes and a fun ruffled dress to wear on the days I have to get dressed up. Clothes and accessories are like my spoon full of sugar.

Day 235 - Monday, August 23, 2010

Day 235 - Monday, August 23, 2010 – I took Liam and Owen to Ashton's daycare today, for a week of "camp". They were in the dragonflies room. Liam wasn't thrilled to be there (he was the oldest kid by two years) but I knew Owen wouldn't want to go to camp with out Liam. So, Liam really took one for the team here.

Day 234 - Sunday, August 22, 2010

Day 234 - Sunday, August 22, 2010 – We stopped by my parents' house for breakfast on the way to Liam's football game in Birmingham. I was amazed by how enamored my dad was with Ashton today. He held him and held him, and just gave him so much good loving. He's the bestest Poppa in the world.

Day 233 - Saturday, August 21, 2010

Day 233 - Saturday, August 21, 2010 – The Petoskey's hosted the second annual Hotties and Hubbies BBQ tonight. Wonderful food, fabulous friends, great weather. These are the nights that make me complete and content.

Day 232 - Friday, August 20, 2010

Day 232 - Friday, August 20, 2010 – Kev's second place co-ed softball team, Casa Real, played great ball in the championship games tonight, losing to a much younger and much more intense team. They'll get 'em next year! I'm just glad no tornadoes blew through.

Day 231 - Thursday, August 19, 2010

Day 231 - Thursday, August 19, 2010 – While, and I quote from the Oakland Press "the National Weather Service storm survey team concluded that the damage observed in and around the Lake Orion, Oxford, and Metamora areas was consistent with thunderstorm straight line winds with speeds up to 70 mph", I beg to differ. They did not see the rain and lake water swirling in several spirals during this half hour ordeal. I've never seen anything like it. And, even though there is a tornado siren directly across the street (I can see the siren from my front porch), there was no alarm being sounded. Really? Obviously, the kids and I took cover in the basement, but not until the storm was literally right on top of us. If these were straight line winds, how did a piece of patio furniture get sucked from the middle of our backyard patio and get twisted up like a pretzel landing in the front yard of the empty lot next door to us. I'm no meteorologist, but, I'll tell ya, THAT was a freaking tornado.

Day 230 - Wednesday, August 18, 2010

Day 230 - Wednesday, August 18, 2010 – Ashton has a new sign on his crib at daycare. Roller.

Day 229 - Tuesday, August 17, 2010

Day 229 - Tuesday, August 17, 2010 – After a two week business trip to Poland, Kev is able to work from home this week. So, not only does he get to take Liam to football practice every evening, he also gets to spend some quality one on one practice time with him in the front yard.

Day 228 - Monday, August 16, 2010

Day 228 - Monday, August 16, 2010 - Jordyn's new bedspread. Much more "teenagerish" than the old one and matches her cell phone case!!

Day 227 - Sunday, August 15, 2010

Day 227 - Sunday, August 15, 2010 – Liam's belated birthday party at Star Theater at Great Lakes Crossing. He invited Aiden, Max, Nathan, and Owen to go see Despicable Me in 3D. SUPER cute movie.

Day 226 - Saturday, August 14, 2010

Day 226 - Saturday, August 14, 2010 – My name is KIIIIIIIID ROOOOOOOCK! Who cares if I was Denise and Lisa's third or fourth choice to join them with an extra KR ticket in the pavilion at the Knob? Not me, coach, put me in the game! I've been on the bench a loooong time!! From the thousand compliments on my kick ass shoes, to the random dude who let me use his extra fourth row ticket for the second half of the concert, to the dancing and laughs with my gorgeous girls...before the show and after, it was a fabulous and much needed girls night out.

Day 225 - Friday, August 13, 2010

Day 225 - Friday, August 13, 2010 – Another four month milestone...this "relationship". Which for two almost high-schoolers, four months is equivalent to 25 years of marriage. These two are just so sweet together, they chitter chatter non stop, act goofy, and laugh out loud. Young (very young) love.

Day 224 - Thursday, August 12, 2010

Day 224 - Thursday, August 12, 2010 – Ashton. Is. Four. Months. Old. One of the best things about this milestone photo, besides the obvious adorable lips, triple chin, and brilliant blue eyes, is that the photographer was Liam. He is still enamored with his baby brother.
